Chisels, angle grinders, drills, saws and flames replace brushes to create marks and lean into the carving from the island of Mangaia in the Cook Islands, where I draw my heritage. This form of carving allows the scent of the heritage arts of Mangaia to flow over the work and be reinterpreted in a contemporary context with modern-day forms.
